Hot check
The hot check should be done as soon as possible after the
cold check, because the precise checking of the oil level is
only possible when the oil is at operating temperature.
CAUTION!
Transmission damage!
During the cold check, the cold oil has less expansion,
i.e. the determined oil level may possibly be too high
for normal operation with oil at operating temperature.
A too high oil level causes damage to the transmission.
X Conduct the hot check at the first opportunity once
the operating temperature has been reached.
X Make sure that for the precise oil level check the oil's
operating temperature lies between 60 °C and 93 °C.
X Make sure the oil level is in the “HOT CHECK”
range 4 during the hot check.
X The oil level should never exceed the “HOT-FULL” or
drop below the “HOT-ADD” marking of the oil dip
stick.
X Use only authorised types of transmission oil.
WARNING!
Accident hazard!
If you leave the MT while the motor is running, the MT
can start rolling unintentionally and seriously injure
persons.
X Always be sure to shift the transmission into
neutral N before exiting the MT and apply the parking
brake.
X Make sure the engine is running at low idle speed.
X Secure the wheels additionally with blocks.
X Make sure that the oil has reached the normal operating
temperature.
The operating temperature is reached when the display of
engine coolant temperature has stabilised on the
combination display instrument, and the transmission has
run for at least an hour with a load.
X Park the MT on level ground for the oil level check.
X Shift the transmission into neutral N and apply the parking
brake.
