2. Safety
2.1. General
This section provides an overview of the most important safety aspects for optimum protection of personnel as
well as for safe and troublefree operation.
Please note that the safety instructions listed here are not exhaustive and do not cover all possible dangers that
might occur during operation.
2.1.1 Basic requirement for safe operation
The knowledge, ability and experience of the machine operator are of decisive importance for optimum use of the
machine. It is therefore absolutely necessary that you acquaint yourself with all operational procedures and recei-
ve appropriate training. On request, Menzi Muck organises training courses in which the driver is acquainted with
the most important requirements of the excavator.
2.1.2 Machine operator
The machine may only be operated by a qualied person who is up to the task both physically and mentally. The
machine operator must be acquainted with the sources of danger and the safety measures required for safe ope-
ration.
2.1.3 Read and understand the warning instructions
This manual as well as the plates and stickers on the machine contain important instructions
for safe operation. This information must be read and understood. Nonobservance may result
in injuries or death! You must not simply ignore points that you do not understand. If you have
any questions then your Menzi Muck distributor will be pleased to provide information. If the
manual or a plate or a sticker is lost or damaged then you must get a replacement from your
Menzi Muck distributor.
2.1.4 Health
The machine operator must be t for the work both physically and mentally; this is one of the best protections
against accidents.
2.1.5 Work clothes
Only wear tight-tting clothing. Do not wear any loose jackets and shirtsleeves or rings
and other jewellery that can easily get caught in moving parts. Clothing that is soiled with
oil or is torn must also be avoided. Clean shoes of grease and dirt before commencing
work. Always wear the stipulated protective clothing such as helmet, goggles, reective
clothing, safety boots and ear protection.
Warning !
Consuming intoxicants!
Can result in death or severe injuries.
Never operate the machine under the inuence of alcohol,
medicine or other intoxicants.
