2.5 Unpacking the instrument
The cardboard packaging constitutes of three pieces that are held together by tensioning straps.
1 Remove the tensioning straps.
2 Lift the top cardboard cover. Note: Do not use the handles on the middle cardboard piece to open the
packaging at this time.
3 The top storage compartment holds the user manual, cardboard boxes and bags, which contain
components included in the delivery as well as any complementary components.
4 Take out all boxes and bags from the top storage compartments and remove the foam piece.
5 Holding its handles, lift and remove the middle cardboard piece. Stow it aside. Important: Do not lift the
foam upwards as this might damage the instrument. The foam can be folded back for removal.
6 Carefully fold back foam piece on the side where the needle arm of the instrument is located. Be sure not to
damage the CF card eject button of the PC (on rear side of the instrument).
7 Carefully slide the protection foam off the instrument in the opposite direction of the needle arm and along
the instrument display.
8 Lift the instrument by holding it at the base of the orange bottle holders at both sides of the device.
CAUTION! Two persons are required to lift the instrument. Take care to avoid personal strain or injury. The
instrument is heavier at the front and should be stabilized while lifting it. Miltenyi Biotec accepts no liability
for potential injuries sustained during lifting and/or movement of the device.
9 Transfer the instrument onto a stable working platform and remove the plastic bag surrounding the device.
WARNING! The instrument requires adequate air circulation for heat exchange and cooling. Read the
chapter Important safety information to avoid the risk of overheating. Do not place the instrument on
an unstable table, cart, stand, tripod, or bracket. As a consequence, the instrument might fall down, which
may cause serious bodily harm and/or serious damage to the instrument. Use only a table, cart, stand,
tripod, or bracket that can easily support a weight of >50 kg.
10 Carefully remove the uptake needle from the foam packaging.
11 Place the uptake needle into its guiding in the robotic needle arm.
