2 Equipment Introduction
2.1 Indications for Use
The VS 8/VS 8A Vital Signs Monitors are intended for monitoring, displaying, reviewing,
storing, alarming, and transferring of multiple physiological parameters including
Temperature (Temp), Pulse Oxygen Saturation (SpO
2
), Pulse Rate (PR), Non-invasive
Blood Pressure (NIBP). All the parameters can be monitored on single adult, pediatric,
and neonatal patients.
The monitors are to be used in healthcare facilities by clinical professionals or under their
guidance. They should only be used by persons who have received adequate training in
their use. The VS 8/VS 8A Vital Signs Monitors are not intended for helicopter transport,
hospital ambulance, or home use.
NOTE
This manual is based on the maximum configuration and therefore some
contents may not apply to the product. If you have any question, please
contact Mindray.
2.2 Applied Parts
The applied parts of the monitor are:
SpO
2
sensor
Temp probe
NIBP cuff

2.3 Main Unit
2.3.1 Front View
(1) Power on/off indicator
On: indicates that the monitor is on or on Standby.
Off: indicates that the monitor is off.
(2) Power switch:
Pressing this switch turns on the monitor.
When the monitor is on, if no measurement is being performed, pressing this
switch enters standby mode.
When the monitor is on, pressing and holding this switch for above 3 seconds
turns off the monitor.
(3) AC power indicator:
On: when AC power is connected.
Off: when AC power is not connected.
