6.2.4 Troubleshooting
If communication with a personal computer is not performed successfully, refer to the
following examples.
●The counter does not respond to the command.
-> Is there any incorrect connection or defective connection of Link cables?
-> Is the straight specification RS-232C cable used?
-> Do the conditions of communication between a personal computer and the counters
meet the specification?
-> There are some personal computers that must specify the communication port or set
the use/non-use of the port. Is the cable connected to the specified port?
-> Is the counter put in the key operation mode?
● Some counters retain the RS link initial mode (“- - -“ is flashing) even when
turning on the power to all counters or retain the count standby mode (“- - -“ is
lit) before turning on all power supplies.
-> Is there any incorrect connection or defective connection of Link cables?
-> Are the counters in the Digimatic output mode? (see “3. SETTING UP”).
NOTE
After correcting the error cause, turn on the power to all counters again for clearing the link
initial mode.
● The commands such as zero-setting and presetting can be executed from the personal
computer, but no data can be retrieved or data retrieving stops on the way.
-> Does the personal computer read the response output with a command such as
zero-setting?
-> Did the computer output the next command before reading the counter response
output?
-> Is the number of link connection channels consistent with the number of pieces of
retrieved data?
● A command error occurs when it is sent.
-> Was the command sent with double-byte characters or lowercases?
-> Was the number exceeding the number of connected channels specified?
-> Was the command sent to the B axis of the addition/subtraction mode?
