9. APPENDIX
9.3 Compensation
This instrument has been adjusted so as to be used at 20°C ± 1°C. Use this function to
perform high-accuracy measurement at a temperature other than the above.
The following shows an example of performing compensation using a 50mm gauge block.
1) Turn on this instrument at least one hour before compensation to perform sufficient
thermal stabilization.
2) Set parameter P.No.39 to 1. (The C.T indicator lights up.)
3) First measure the size of the reference gauge block. Assume the measured result
as 49.99600.
4) Set a difference of -0.00400 from 50.00000 (GB nominal size) as the compensation
value.
5) Set the compensation value according to the following procedure.
Key operation Response display/output Description
1 Thermal stabilization
The display unit is put in the normal count mode.
2 While holding down
[LIMIT], press
[PRESET].
While holding down the [LIMIT] key, press the
[PRESET] key to enter the parameter mode. (The
setting at the flashing digit can be changed.)

Press [PRESET].
twice.
To change parameters, press the [PRESET] key and
then set the setting to 1.
4
Press [LIMIT].
The preset value that has been previously set is
displayed.
5 [ > ]
Pressing the [ > ] key flashes the most significant digit
(MSD) and enters a state in which a preset value can
be inputted.
6
Press [ ∧ ] 10 times.
Press the [ ∧ ] or [ ∨ ] key to change a display value.
The number at the MSD changes between 0 and 9, 9
and -0, -0 and -9, or -9 and 0, including the sign.
7 Press [ > ] 2 times.
Each time the [ > ] or [ < ] key is pressed, the flashing
digit moves in the direction of the arrow.
8
Press [ ∧ ] 4 times.
9 Press [PRESET].
Press the [PRESET] key to set the compensation
value.
To cancel presetting, press the [ZERO] key to restore
the count mode.
Set a compensation value in units of 0.01µm irrespective of the display graduation
and display unit.
The maximum compensation range is ± 0.99999.
To set a compensation value again, set it to 0.00000 once, and then repeat the
procedure in steps 1) to 9).
IMORTANT
Sufficiently note that, if the user compensation function is used, the accuracy assurance at
shipping will be ineffective.
