Fortheinitialpreparationoftheplanter,lubricatethe
planterandrowunits.Makesurethatalltiresareevenly
inated,thatalldrivechainshavethepropertension,
alignmentandlubrication.
CAUTION:Beforestartinguptheplanter,check
thatallmainboltsareproperlytightenedand
thatplantingunitsareequippedwiththeproper
seeddisc.Alsocheckthattheshuttersinside
themeteringboxesareadjustedcorrectly(see
RowUnitsection).Checkdailytoseeifthe
boltsofthehitcharetight.
WARNING!:ThePTOshaftshouldbeatareducedangle
duringlifting.Iftheangleistoosteep,reducethePTO
speedattheendoftheeld.(Normallytheseedremains
undersuctionevenat400rpm)

LUBRICATEWHEELBEARINGS
Wheelbearingsshouldberepackedwithclean,
heavy-dutyaxlegreaseevery4-5seasons.Thisapplies
toalldrivewheels,transportwheels,andmarkerhubs.
LUBRICATEGREASEFITTINGS
Thosepartsequippedwithgreasettingsshouldbe
lubricatedatthefrequencyindicatedwithhigh-qualitySAE
grease.Besuretocleanthettingthoroughlybeforeusing
agreasegun.Thefrequencyoflubricationrecommended
isbasedonthenormaloperatingconditions.Severeor
unusualconditionsmayrequiremorefrequentlubrication.
CHAINTENSIONADJUSTMENT
Thedrivechainsarespringloadedandthereforeself-
adjusting.Theonlyadjustmentneededistoshortenthe
chainifwearstretchesthechainandreducesspring
tension.Thepivotpointoftheseidlersshouldbechecked
periodicallytoensuretheywouldrotatefreely.
