Checkfortheproperapplicationratesofchemicalson
allrows.
•
Checkthedesiredseeddepthandpopulation.(see

CHECKINGSEEDPOPULATION
1.Onlyoneplantingunitisnecessarytocheckseed
population.Tieupthesetsofclosingwheelson
oneunitwithaheavycordorlightchain.Itmaybe
necessarytodecreasethetensionoftheclosing
wheelarm.
2.Putseedintheseedhopper.
3.Beginplanting.Attheendofashortdistance(for
example100yardsor90meters)checktoseeifseed
isvisibleintheseedtrench.Makeadjustmentsto
seeddepthifnecessary.
4.Measureoff1/200ofanacreofthetestrowjust
planted.Usethechartbelowtondtheapproximate
distance.Markthisdistancewithags.
Counttheseedswithinthedistancebetweentheags.
Multiplythenumberofseedscountedinthisdistance
by200.Thiswillgivethetotalnumberofseedsplanter
peracre
