ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Function
Feed wheels: Feeds brush at a steady rate into the chipper drum.
Chipper Drum: Reduces brush, limbs and logs into chip size material.
Chipping Flow Path:
1 Brush is laid on the infeed bed.
2 The teeth of the feed wheels grab the brush and pull the brush into the chipper drum at a steady rate.
3 The chipper drum cuts the brush against the anvil.
4 The six knife pockets accumulate the chips.
5 The rotation of the drum and the air impeller system (this system helps blow chips up into the discharge chute) provides steady air ow to
carry the chips up into the discharge chute.
Movement or placement of any part of the body inside
the feed wheels and chipper drum will result in
mutilation, serious injury or death. Keep all parts of the
body (hands, feet, head) outside of the yoke.
Opening the chipper hood while the chipper drum is
moving will result serious injury or death. Do not open
the chipper hood when the chipper drum is moving. Turn
off the engine and lock the hood before servicing.
Always wear leather gloves and protective
clothing when changing or servicing the chipper
knife and anvil. Serious injury could occur.
