Cleaning Cables After Each Use
Note: You don’t need to unplug the probe cables before cleaning unless you suspect that
something entered the cable sockets.
Clean the cables:
1 Unplug the USB and power cables.
2 Wipe down the cable with a prepackaged alcohol wipe, or with a lint-free cloth dampened
(not wet) with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
3 Wipe the transducers:
• For OAE cables, wipe the probe head, avoiding the probe nozzle connector.
• For ATA cables, wipe both the left and right transducer housings, avoiding the earphone
connectors.
4 Allow the cable to dry thoroughly, and then reconnect the cable to the device.
Sequential screening displays results for last ear tested
One ear at a time screening displays results for ear most recently tested
CAUTION Do not immerse cables in liquid.
OAE and ATA transducers contain sensitive components. To avoid damaging a
probe, never attempt to clean the sound apertures in the probe housing by using liq-
uids or mechanical means.
