CAUTION!
A wrong spark plug can damage the engine.
1. D r i ve t h e m a ch i n e o n a l e ve l g r o u n d a n d e n g a g e t h e
parking rake.
2. Turn the ignition ke (51) to 0.
3. O p e n t h e e n g i n e co m p a r t m e n t h o o d ( 19 ) a n d f a st e n i t w i t h
t h e su p p o r t r o d ( 4 7 ) .
4 . L i f t a n d r e m o ve t h e r i g h t si d e p a n e l ( 31) .
5 . isconnect the spark plug cap (A, Fig. 28) and remove dirt
around the spark plug (B).
6. Remove the spark plug with a suitale wrench (C).
7 . Check the spark plug. Replace it if it is damaged, dirt, if
t h e se a l i n g w a sh e r ( D ) i s d a m a g e d o r i f t h e e l e ct r o d e i s
w o r n .
8 . Measure the distance etween the spark plug electrodes
w i t h a f e e l e r g a u g e . C o r r e ct t h e d i st a n ce b y b e n d i n g
ca r e f u l l y t h e si d e e l e ct r o d e ( E ) . T h e d i st a n ce b e t w e e n t h e
e l e ct r o d e s m u st b e o f 0. 7 0 - 0. 8 0 m m .
9 . nstall the spark plug manuall with great care, to avoid
t i g h t e n i n g i t i m p r o p e r l y .
10. nce the spark plug is in place, tighten it with a proper
w r e n ch t o p r e ss t h e se a l i n g w a sh e r .
11. hen a new spark plug is installed, tighten 1/2 turn once
the spark plug is in place to press the washer.
12. hen the original spark plug is reinstalled, tighten 1/8 - 1/4
turn once the spark plug is in place to press the washer.
CAUTION!
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the
engine.
Do not overtighten, otherwise the threads in the
cylinder head can be damaged.
13. nstall the cap on the spark plug.
