Signal Path Checks
The following checks should help you to isolate a signal path problem to a particular
board:
1. Check the input and output cables for the signal in question. Verify the cables are
properly connected and check their continuity. Also check the source device to be
sure an input signal is being supplied to the router input.
2. Switch a different input signal with an input number as far away from the suspect
input as possible to the output in question. If the signal does not appear at the
output, the problem is most likely the Output card. Swap the suspected Output
card with another one and see if the problem follows the card. If so, replace the
bad card.
3. If switching a different input signal to the output in question produced a signal at
the output, the likely problem is the input signal, Input card or Crosspoint card. Try
swapping Input cards and switching back to the suspect input to see if the signal
is now present. If so, the Input card is the problem. Replace the bad Input card.
4. If the signal is still not present, the likely problem is the Crosspoint card. Swap
Crosspoint cards and check the suspect input. If the signal is now present at the
output, the Crosspoint card is bad. Replace the Crosspoint card.
5. If the problem persists, contact NVISION as explained under the heading,
"TECHNICAL SUPPORT" on page viii near the front of this manual.
