Audit Trail User-definable information printed on items and/or displayed on
item images.
Barcode A series of bars and spaces arranged in a predetermined pattern to
represent elements of data.
Batch One or more transactions. Information on pieces is grouped and sent
to the user in batches.
Bitonal Image format where every pixel is either black or white.
Category Grouping of similar parameters.
Checksum A character included within a barcode whose value is based on
other characters within the data string. It is used to perform a mathematical
check to ensure the data is accurately read.
CertainScan A character included within a barcode whose value is based on
other characters within the data string. It is used to perform a mathematical
check to ensure the data is accurately read.
DLL Dynamic Link Library. Plug-ins supplied by third-party vendors.
Document Any single sheet of paper processed by the Falcon.
Dropout Removing a selected color from an item image. The Falcon can re-
move red, green, or blue from item images.
Grayscale Image format where all pixels are processed as a shade (level) of
gray. Gray levels range from 0 (black) to 255 (white).
Host PC The PC that runs the scanner. CertainScan is installed on the Host
PC, as well as the INtime Controller, which manages the system’s non machine-
related functions.
INtime Controller Software that controls all machine-related functions. Runs
in the background of the CertainScan software.
Job A profile of parameter settings you use for processing items. When you
run items through the Falcon, you must specify which job to run. Jobs allow you
to process pieces in a similar manner from run to run.
