OPENcontrol models
The available hardware platforms allow a perfect match of computational power and
application needs. Four scalable Control Unit models are available for this purpose:
OPEN-XS, OPEN-M, OPEN-XL and OPEN-XLi.
All the platforms run the same software with the software features independent of the
hardware. The model choice is then determined by the required performance in terms of
block cycle time, minimum system tick, number of Processes (channels executing a Part
Program) and axes, number of eldbuses and devices used or by specic congurations.
OPEN-XS
A particularly exible element of the
OPENcontrol family, the OPEN-XS is
a modular system that offers both a
solution for the control of servo-drives
and I/O modules distributed on a
digital eldbus and also for controlling
Analog or P&D axes and integrated
I/O. The solution for analog axes
is implemented using an external
compact module.
The modules in the catalog, with the
same form factor for easy pairing, are
the following:

The real-time control unit.
It is based on a PC platform
and equipped with an axis
control board supporting
Mechatrolink III, EtherCAT
and CANopen protocols. It
uses an ATOM CPU and is an
entry-level system for the
management of servo drives
and I/O controlled through a
digital fieldbus.
