Connecting Peripherals
An error occurs while installing the driver.
When you install a driver of card or peripheral device, make sure that the driver iscompatible
with the operating system. If it is not compatible, malfunction may occur. For information about
the driver, contact the manufacturer of the peripheraldevice.
A peripheraldevice does not work.
Install the driver.
Contact the manufacturer of the device.
When operation resumes from sleep or hibernation, devices such asan external mouse and
cards may not function properly. In thiscase, restart the computer or reinitialize the device.
When or is displayed in the Device Manager, remove and insert the device. If the
problem persists, restart the computer.
When you set [USB Port] to [Disabled] in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility, USB ports of
cradle are also disabled.
The settings of USB ports can be changed separately for the computer and the cradle
(optional). In the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility, check both [USB Port] and [Cradle USB
Port] settings.
The computer may not recognize the connection/removal of some devices, or maynot operate
normally with some devices.

Touch and hold (Start) at the bottom left corner, and then touch [Device Man-
ager].
2. Select the device, and remove the check mark for [Allow the computer to turn off this
device to save power] in [Power Management]. (Thisitem may be unavailable for
some types of devices.)
In the case that a USB device does not work, remove the USB device and connect it again.
The connected mouse does not work.
Check the mouse connection.
Install the driver compatible with the connected mouse.
You do not know the addressmap for IRQ,
I/O port address, etc.
You can check with the following procedure.
1.
Touch and hold (Start) at the bottom left corner, and then touch [Device Man-
ager].
2. Touch [View] - [Resources by type].
<Only for modelwith SerialPort>
The device connected to the serialport
does not work.
Check the connection.
The device driver may not work. Refer to the instruction manualof the device.
Set [Serial Port] to [Auto] in the sub-menu of [Serial Port Settings] in the [Advanced] menu of the
Setup Utility.
<Only for modelwith dedicated GPS / GPS
on wirelessWAN>
GPS does not work.
You can check the GPS status. ( GPS)
Set airplane mode to OFF.
Check the airplane mode setting.
If a USB 3.0 compatible device is used, GPS information may not be correctly received. In this
case, do any of the following.
<Only for modelwith USB 2.0 port>
Connect the USB device to the USB 2.0 port.
Use an extension cable (separatelysold) compatible with USB 2.0.
If an external antenna for GPS can be used, use the external antenna, and keep some
distance between the externalantenna and the USB device.
