What to do if the furnace still contains a sample while trying to load a new one in PerkinElmer DSC 6000 Measuring Instruments?
    • D
      Dennis TannerAug 17, 2025
If the furnace still contains a sample when trying to load a new one, it might be due to a failure in picking the sample out of the furnace. Check if the gripper fingers are bent. Another reason may be an incorrect horizontal baseplate adjustment, or an incorrect horizontal calibration. In this case, you should replace the gripper assembly or adjust the baseplate. It is also possible that the AS 8000 run was interrupted after putting a sample in the furnace and restarting; in that case, recalibrate the AS 8000.

What to do if the gripper wire is broken or no AS 8000 mechanics are connected in PerkinElmer DSC 6000?
    • C
      Cindy ChavezAug 20, 2025
If the gripper wire is broken, replace the gripper assembly. If the AS 8000 connector is not connected, connect it. If the AS 8000 cable is not OK, check the cable.

Why is there no +12 V power supply available for the stepper motor power supply in PerkinElmer DSC 6000?
    • G
      Gilbert SchmittAug 22, 2025
The absence of a +12 V power supply for the stepper motor may be due to an overload condition in switched power supplies, indicating the 12 V power supply is not OK. To resolve this, check the stepper motor wires. Alternatively, try replacing the AS 8000 assembly or the controller PCB.

What to do if light switches are not functioning or are blocked when the gripper is in raised position in PerkinElmer DSC 6000?
    • G
      George Crawford Jr.Aug 26, 2025
If the light switch is blocked, remove the object that blocks it. If the light switch is not OK, replace the AS 8000 mechanics. If the AS 8000 cable is not OK, check or replace the AS 8000 connection board.

What to do if the vertical stepper motor is blocked in PerkinElmer DSC 6000 Measuring Instruments?
    • J
      John AndersonAug 28, 2025
If the vertical stepper motor is blocked, recalibrate the AS 8000 if the cause is incorrect calibration. Check gear wheels if they are blocked. Remove any external object that may be causing the blockage. Also, ensure the DSC inner lid is correctly placed; replace it if misplaced.

What to do if the gripper still holds a sample while moving OUT of the furnace in PerkinElmer Measuring Instruments?
    • P
      pwestAug 31, 2025
If the gripper still holds a sample while moving out of the furnace, it might be because the sample sticks to the gripper fingers. Clean the gripper tips. Using clean sample pans can also solve this problem.

What to do if the microswitch is activated when the gripper is NOT in reset state in PerkinElmer DSC 6000?
    • A
      Audrey OconnellSep 2, 2025
If the microswitch is activated when the gripper is not in the reset state, it could be due to a faulty microswitch. In this case, replace the gripper assembly. It may also be due to incorrect microswitch wiring, so check the wiring. Finally, the AS 8000 cable may be faulty, so check or replace the AS 8000 connection board.

What should I do if the parent instrument has entered a fatal error state that results in the AS 8000 also entering an error state in PerkinElmer DSC 6000 Measuring Instruments?
    • L
      Louis HillSep 5, 2025
If the parent instrument has entered a fatal error state causing the AS 8000 to also enter an error state, it indicates an error has occurred in the parent instrument. You should check the parent instrument to resolve this issue.

What to do if the horizontal stepper motor is blocked in PerkinElmer DSC 6000?
    • P
      Pamela ClarkSep 8, 2025
If the horizontal stepper motor is blocked, check the gear wheels for any blockage. Also, remove any external object that might be blocking it.

Why is the zero position not detected in PerkinElmer DSC 6000 Measuring Instruments?
    • M
      Megan AndersonSep 12, 2025
The zero position might not be detected due to direct sunlight interfering with the light switches' detection of the gripper fingers. To resolve this, do not place the instrument in direct sunlight. Also, check if the gripper assembly is displaced and align it if necessary.
