3.2 Security Updates / Servicing Channel
3.2.1 Microsoft Windows
The Harmony software was tested and released with:
l Microsoft Windows
®
10 IoT Enterprise 2016/2019 LTSC, 64 bit
This includes all security patches until the Harmony release date (see Release Notes).
Notice
PerkinElmer cannot guarantee that future Windows updates provided by Microsoft
will not compromise the stability of the “Opera Phenix System”. We assume that
the impact is low but to ensure to always have a stable “Opera Phenix System” we
recommend that you ...
l disable Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), if applicable,
or
l disable internet access temporarily during screening campaigns to avoid
unattended installation of updates during a screening run.
3.2.2 Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016/2019 LTSC
The operating system of the provided device PC is Microsoft Windows
®
10 IoT
Enterprise 2016/2019 LTSC (Version 1607/1809).
l This version will receive regular security updates (supported until October
2026/January 2029).
l It will skip any feature updates to ensure stability.
l Do not change the preset Servicing Channel (LTSB/LTSC). This will not be
supported by PerkinElmer.

As a part of the entire Opera Phenix system the device PC uses a Windows

Enterprise license. This is a full version of Windows

10 that delivers enterprise
manageability and security to IoT (Internet of Things) solutions. Windows

Enterprise is a binary equivalent to Windows

10 Enterprise, so you can use the same
familiar development and management tools as client PCs and laptops.

What is Long-term Servicing Channel (LTSC)?
For an HCS device it makes more sense that it is kept stable and secure than kept up
to date with user interface changes.
