Operating Manual: PSS SB 3006-3 Series 8-1
General requirements
We recommend you use screened cable for the RS 232/RS 485 interfaces.
If unscreened cables are used, the interfaces may malfunction.
Earth the cable screening on both sides (e.g. on a bus bar).
If you are using longer cables and there is the possibility of transient
currents, you can prevent these by using equipotential bonding cables.
If you are unable to use equipotential bonding cables, connect the
screening at one end.
