SERVICING
BATTERY.
The
battery
is
located
under
the
floor
of
the
forward
baggage
compartment.
It
is
enclosed
in
a
box
with
a
vent
system
and
a
drain.
The
vents
allow
fresh
air
to
enter
the
box
and
draw
off
fumes
that
may
accumulate
due
to
the
charging
process
of
the
battery.
The
drain
is
capped
off
from
the
bottom
of
the
fuselage
and
should
be
opened
occasionally
to
drain
any
accumulation
of
liquid
or
during
cleaning
of
the
box.
The
battery
should
be
checked
for
fluid
level,
but
must
not
be
filled
above
the
baffle
plates.
A
hydrometer
check
should
be
performed
to
determine
the
percent
of
charge
in
the
battery.
All
connections
must
be
clean
and
tight.
If
the
battery
is not
up
to normal
charge,
recharge
starting
with
a
charging
rate
of
four
amperes
and
finishing
with
two.
A
fast
charge
is
not
recommended.
Access
to
the
battery
on
standard
PA-32-260
and
300
aircraft
is
through
the
access
panel
within
the
nose
baggage
compartment
floor.
On
PA-32R-300
models
the
external
access
panel
on
the
right
side
of
the
fuselage
at station
43
is
removed.
