Engine Disassembly -- All Engines
4. Remove the reed valves from the intake tracks. Note
the order of the valves, gaskets, and reed stuffers for
reassembly. Inspect sealing surface for damage that
may cause an air leak.
5. Remove oil pump. Note the sealing o--ring located
between pump and flywheel cover . Discard O--ring.
6. Remove flywheel cover bolts. Tap cover lightly with
soft--faced hammer and remove. Record the
placement of any part(s) that may fall out of the
housing when the cover is removed.
NOTE: On DIt models, both the water jacket cover and
flywheel cover are attached with the cover bolts. Once the
bolts are removed, both covers will separate from the en-
gine.
