This software is intended to be used on a battery powered laptop computer. To minimize electric shock hazard,
DO NOT connect A.C. powered computers to the watercraft.
The Polaris Diagnostic Software will operate on a wide range of laptop computers. It has been tested on laptops
using 286, 386, 486, Celeront and Pentiumt-class processors, including AMDÒ. At least 400 kilobytes (K) of
DOS memory must be available for the program to run. The screen fonts and colors will display well on monochro-
matic or color displays.
This program is provided on a single 1.44 MB 3 1/2 inch floppy disk. This disk can be accessed by most newer
IBM compatible laptop computers. Polaris recommends that the diagnostic software be installed on the hard
drive.
Polaris recommends that your laptop use either Windows 95 or 98 operating systems. Although software conflicts
and communications problems have been reported on ALL current operating systems, Windows 95 and 98 have
generally worked with the diagnostic software.
Users have also reported to Polaris that many new laptops are now manufactured without serial ports. In place
of serial ports, the manufacture uses USB ports. At the time of publication, the Laptop communication cable will
not work on these models unless special hardware and software is purchased from either the laptop manufacturer
or aftermarket.
Additionally, Polaris has found that the diagnostic software may not communicate with the EMM on laptops with
the Windows MEt operating system.
