4.4 Maximum Load Capacity of Tip-Tilt Unit
CAUTION!
Danger of tilting caused by too heavy objects and lack of stability!
When incorrectly placing too heavy objects on the tip-tilt unit, the
measurement setup may become unstable and may tilt.
» Only use objects and sample positioning which do not exceed the maximum
load capacity of the tip-tilt unit.
» Adhere to the permissible limits when positioning the object on the tip-tilt
unit.
Max. load
capacity in x-
direction
The load capacity of the tip-tilt unit in x-direction is calculated as follows:
Equation 4.1
Example
For an object with 5 kg and with the aid of the M
x
counter-momentum (M
x
=–
2200 Nmm) results in the following:
Equation 4.2
For this reason, the object may only be placed 44,9 mm left or behind the
center of the tip-tilt unit.
Figure 4.2: Maximum load capacity of tip-tilt unit
Max. load
capacity in y-
direction
To calculate the maximum load capacity in y-direction (counter-momentum
M
y
= –2200 Nmm) proceed accordingly.
