Connection with ATEX motors
The ATEX standard is related to the use of machinery, installations and equipment in areas with a
potentially explosive atmosphere. In the European Union, the use of equipment in these areas Is
regulated by two complementary directives: Directive 1999/92/EC for the installation environment and
worker’s protection, and Directive 94/9/EC for the ATEX equipment. These guidelines and directives are
based on two basic concepts: the classification of potentially explosive areas or zones and the limitation
of equipment that can be installed in each of them.
