2.2.4 Cooling Requirements
CAUTION
Do not install a 28000 system in a place with poor ventilation. Minimum
clearance of three inches (76.2 mm) is required around the front, sides,
and back of the unit for proper cooling. Never block the air intake fans or
exhaust vents.
28002 Systems
28002 frames have one intake fan located at the bottom of the front panel. The fan forces
air through the system and out through a vent located on the rear panel.
28004 Systems
28004 frames have three intake fans: one fan located at the center of the front panel and
two fans located on the front of the power supply. The fans force air through the system
and out through vents located in the frames side.
28008 Systems
28008 frames have four intake fans: two fans located at the center of the front panel and
two fans located on the front of the power supply. The fans force air through the system
and out through vents located in the side of frame.
28016 Systems
28016 frames have ve intake fans located along the lower edge of the front panel and three
intake fans located on the front of the power supply. The fans force air through the system
and out through vents located in the rear of frame. The power supply has an additional fan
in the upper rear to pull air out from the power supply.
2.3 Unpacking
WARNING
Two people are required to lift 28016 and 28008 system mainframes and
shipping containers. See Table 4 for approximate shipping weight and
unpacked system weight.
28000 systems are shipped with the power supply and the backplane interface (BIF) card
installed in the mainframe. Conditioning cards and other components are typically shipped in
