6 Configuring the R&S TSMA6
Network environment
Before connecting the product to a local area network (LAN), consider the follow-
ing:

Install the latest firmware to reduce security risks.
●
For internet or remote access, use secured connections if applicable.
●
Ensure that the network settings comply with the security policies of your com-
pany. Contact your local system administrator or IT department before con-
necting your product to your company LAN.
●
When connected to the LAN, the product may potentially be accessed from
the internet, which may be a security risk. For example, attackers might mis-
use or damage the product.
6.1 Accessing the R&S TSMA6
There are different ways to control measurements on the R&S TSMA6.
●
Local operation
To use the R&S TSMA6 as an ordinary PC, an external monitor, mouse and
keyboard have to be connected to the R&S TSMA6.
●
Remote access
The remote access to the R&S TSMA6 can be realized via the following
options.
– Using the web GUI of the R&S TSMA6 (see Chapter 6.1.1, "Start the
R&S TSMA6 Web GUI", on page 28).
– Establish a remote desktop connection (via LAN/WLAN) (see Chap-
ter 6.1.2, "Establish a Remote Desktop Connection", on page 30).
6.1.1 Start the R&S TSMA6 Web GUI
To start the R&S TSMA6 web GUI via a remote PC, three possible ways are
available.
Accessing the R&S TSMA6
