Whenchoosingasuitablevesseltype,theemphasis
shouldbeonsafeanddependablesteering
response.
Important:Ifyouchangethevesseltypeafter
completingtheDocksidewizard,allcommissioning
settingswillberesettodefaultsettings,andyou
willneedtocompletetheDocksidewizardagain.
Selectingavesselhulltype
TheVesselhulltypecanbeaccessedfromthePilot
Set-uppage.
1.SelectPilotSettings.
2.SelectVesselSettings.
3.SelectVesselHullType.
4.Selecttheoptionthatmostcloselymatchesyour
vesseltype.
Thenewselectionisapplied.
Selectingadrivetype
Drivetypeselectionisavailablefromthedockside
wizard,andalsofromtheVesselsettingsmenu:
PilotSet-up>PilotSettings>VesselType>Drive
type.
WiththeDriveTypemenudisplayed:
1.Selectyourdrivetypefromthelist.
Note:Thedrivetypesavailablearedependant
ontheACUtype.Ifyourdrivetypeisnotlisted
contactyourRaymarinedealerforadvice.
2.SelectOKtosaveyoursettinganddisplaythe
nextset-uppage.
Note:YoucancanceltheDocksidewizardatany
timebyselectingSTANDBY.
Aligningheading
Theautopilotheadingcanbealignedtotheship’s
compassusingtheCompassoffsetsetting.
Note:Toperformthisprocedureyouwillneed
anetworkeddevicesuchasaninstrument,pilot
controlheadormultifunctiondisplaytohavethe
currentautopilotheadingshownonscreen.
Manyfactorscancauseadifferencebetween
headingandcourseoverground(COG),youmust
aligntheheadingsoitmatchesthevessel’ssteering
compass(oraknowntransitbearing).

1.Setyourvesselonaknownheadingandcheck
thesteeringcompass.
2.Checktheautopilotheadingonyourmultifunction
display.
3.FromthePilotSet-uppageselectPilotSettings.
4.SelectVesselSettings.
5.SelectCompassOffset.
6.AdjusttheCompassOffsetsothattheautopilot
headingwillmatchthesteeringcompassheading.
e.g.Ifthesteeringcompassheadingwas155°
andautopilotheadingwas150°applyinga
compassoffsetofwouldmeanthatthesteering
compassandautopilotheadingarealigned.
Thecompassoffsetwillbechangedautomaticallyif
requiredwhenthealigncompasstoGPSprocedure
iscarriedout.
Drivesettings
Thedrivesettingsaredesignedtoprovideoptimum
driveperformance.
Itisimportanttocheckandwherenecessaryadjust
thedrivesettingstosuityourdrivesetup.
Drivesettingsincludethefollowingsettings:
*RudderDamping.
AutoTurn.
PowerSteer.
Reverserudderref.
RudderOffset.
RudderLimit.
HardOverTime.
Note:*Therudderdampingsettingshouldnot
beadjustedwithoutrstseekingadvicefrom
Raymarinetechnicalsupport.
Settingtheautoturnangle
Youcanspecifytheangleatwhichthevesselwillturn
whenperforminganAutoTurnusingaconnected
PilotcontrolHead.
FromthePilotSet-uppage:
1.SelectPilotSettings.
2.SelectDriveSettings.
3.SelectAutoTurn.
4.Adjusttheautoturnsettingtotherequiredvalue.
5.SelectBackorOktoconrmthesetting.
PowerSteer
Ifyouhaveajoystickorap70Rpilotcontrolhead
connectedtoyourautopilotyoucanselectitsmode
ofoperation.Fordetailedinformationrefertothe
documentationthataccompaniedyourjoystickor
yourp70R.
Themodesofoperationareasfollows:
OffJoystickcontrolisturnedoff.
ProportionalProportionalmodeappliesrudder
inproportiontojoystickmovementthefurther
thejoystickisheldover,thegreatertheapplied
rudder.
