REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a Disconnect the battery (see Battery : Removal -
Refitting) (80A, Battery).
a Remove:
-the engine cover,
-the injector rail protector (see 13B, Diesel injec-
tion, Injector rail protector: Removal - Refitting,
page 13B-70) ,
- the high pressure pipes between the rail and the in-
jector (see 13B, Diesel injection, High-pressure
pipe between the rail and injector: Removal -
Refitting, page 13B-87) ,
- the high pressure pipe between the pump and the
rail (see 13B, Diesel injection, High-pressure
pipe between the pump and rail: Removal - Re-
fitting, page 13B-71) ,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine undertray,
- the oil separator (see 11A, Top and front of engi-
ne, Oil decanter: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-
205) .
a Disconnect the heater plug connectors (1) .
a Unclip the heater plug wiring from the lower protec-
tor of the injector rail.
Essential special tooling
Mot. 1566 Spanner for removing high
pressure pipes.
Tightening torquesm
injector rail bolts 30 Nm
nuts on the high pres-
sure pipes between the
rail and the injector at
the injector end
27 N.m
nut on the high pressure
pipe between the pump
and the rail at the high
pressure pump end
27 N.m
nut on the high pressure
pipe between the pump
and the rail at the injec-
tor rail end
37 N.m
nuts on the high pres-
sure pipes between the
rail and the injector at
the injector rail end
37 N.m
IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injec-
tion: Precautions for repair, page 13B-1) .
