a Remove:
-the bolts from the exhaust gas recirculation assem-
bly support,
-the exhaust gas recirculation assembly.
a Remove:
-the exhaust gas cooler bolts,
-the exhaust gas cooler.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: exhaust gas cooler
seal (11,07,01,17)
a Use ABRASIVE PADS to clean the joint faces:
- of the exhaust gas cooler if it is being reused,
-of the exhaust gas recirculation mounting on the
gearbox side.
a Use ABRASIVE PADS to clean the joint faces of the
exhaust gas recirculation mounting on the timing
end.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for repair) (04B, Consumables -
Products) and CLEAN CLOTHS to degrease the
joint faces:
- of the exhaust gas cooler if it is being reused,
-of the exhaust gas recirculation mounting on the
gearbox side.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for repair) (04B, Ingredient -
Products) and CLEAN CLOTHS to degrease the
joint faces of the exhaust gas recirculation support
on the timing end.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a On the workbench, refit the exhaust gas cooler with
a new seal on the exhaust gas recirculation support
on the gearbox side.
a Fit without tightening the exhaust gas cooler bolts on
the exhaust gas recirculation support on the gearbox
side.
a On the workbench, refit the timing end exhaust gas
recirculation assembly support on the exhaust gas
recirculation assembly.

Note:
Take care not to damage the joint faces of the
exhaust gas cooler on its mounting to prevent
any coolant leaks.
WARNING
To ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).
