Roche CoaguChek XS Plus - Cleaning;Disinfecting; Cleaning;Disinfecting the Exterior

It is important to follow the procedures below to clean and disinfect the meter. Failure to
follow these procedures may cause malfunction of the meter.
n Do not use sprays of any sort.
n Ensure that swab or cloth is only damp, not wet.
Cleaning/Disinfecting the Exterior
n Use only the following items for cleaning/disinfecting the CoaguChek XS Plus meter
housing for a contact time of >1 minute:
- 70% isopropyl alcohol
- 10% Sodium hypochlorite solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts deionized water, made fresh
every 24 hours)
- NOTE: Do not use any other cleaning solutions/disinfectants on the
meter housing.
n Ensure that the blue test strip guide cover remains tightly closed while cleaning
the housing.

1 Clean the Exterior
With the meter powered off, wipe the
meter’s exterior clean.
n Do not let liquid accumulate near any
opening. Make sure that no liquid
enters the meter.
2 Dry the Exterior
With a lint-free tissue, dry the meter.
n Wipe away residual moisture and
fluids after cleaning the housing.
n Allow wiped areas to dry for at least
10 minutes before performing a test.
