The FR -3x can play back audio files in the mp3 and WAV formats directly from a USB memory y ou connect to its USB
port. Sel" "Abaut audio files" on p. 70 for a description of the supported file types.
Copying audio files to a USB
memory
Be fare being able to pla y ba ck aud io (mp3 or WAV) on
the FR -3 x, you mu st first copy them from yo ur com-
puter's hard di sk to a USB memory that can be con-
nected to the FR-3x.

Be aware t ha t th e FR-3x can only play back fi les located
in the USB mem ory's root directory (i.e. on the sa me
level as any folders the USB memory may contain).
Never copy a ud io files to a folder if you wish to be able
to play them back on the FR-3 x.
Tip for naming a udio files
The FR -3x only d isplays the first t hree characters of the
audio file names . If the USB memory contains severai
files whose first th ree characters are t he same, we rec-
olllill
end renaming those files on yo ur computer by
ad d ing a n um ber to t heir names.
Here is an example : if the USB Illemary contains a fi le
named "Ama zin g Grace. w av" and another ane called
"Amazing.m p3", consider renaIlling theIll as follows to
be able to dis tingu i sh between theIll:

Connecting an optional USB
memory
1. Put the FR - 3x down and turn it around.
2. Unclip the cushion located between the tre -
ble keyboard and the bellows to see the
FR - 3x's USB port.
The FR -3x's U SB port is located next to the battery
compartment.
3. Pr e ss the two sides of the USB cOl11partment
cover (where it says "PRESS TO OPEN") and
pull the cover open.
T he compartment apens, revealing t he loca tion
where the U SB memory needs to be inserte d.
4. Insert an optional USB l11emory into the
port.
T he USB Illemary can only be connected in ane direc-
tion. I nser t the USB memory wi t ho ut applying ex ces-
sive force.
