Connecting Pads Other Than the RP-2
Not only can you connect the RP-2 to the RM-2, you can connect other Roland V-Drums
Series pads as well. Depending on the trigger input settings, you may be able to connect two
pads, or connect a single rim-capable pad. However, each pad has its own individual
characteristics, so you may not be able to have a right pad sound merely by connecting it to
the RM-2. When connecting a pad, you must first make adjustments (the trigger types) that
are specific to the pad you’ve connected. This allows the pad to be recognized correctly.
* Trigger Input 2 is disabled when a rim-capable pad is connected.

If connecting a pad, such as the PD-80R or PD-120, that is capable of producing rim
shots, refer to the next section, "Connecting Pads Capable of Playing Rim Shots" (p.
24).
1. Connect compatible pads to Trigger Input 1 or 2.
2. Hold down the [SELECT] button and turn on the power.
The RM-2 is now in the mode in which the parameters can be set.
3. Press the [ ] or [ ] button to switch the Input Mode to .
4. Press the [SELECT] button.
Once appears in the display, you can select the Trigger Type.
Select the type for the connected pad: (RP-2), (PD-80/100), (PD-5/6/7/
9), or (KD-7/80/120).
When you strike a pad, the Trigger 1 or 2 indicator flashes, indicating the pad that is being
set. After checking the indicator to determine that the selected pad is the one you want to set,
make the trigger parameter settings.
The default setting for both Trigger Input 1 and 2 is , the setting that allows two RP-2
pads to be connected.

What is the Input Mode?
This is the mode in which you set what is to be connected to the Trigger Input. When
connecting one or two normal pads, select ; when connecting one pad that is
capable of playing rim shots, select .
The default setting for this is , which allows two RP-2 pads to be connected.
