5.3. Check of air filter element
The air filter element protects the engine from foreign matter and consequently from damage and
represents a matched system with the intake silencer.
Attention: Never use the engine without air filter. This would allow foreign material to enter the
engine, leaning down the fuel/air mixture. This would provocate engine damage.
Therefore pay particular attention to have an air filter element fitted and to its condition.
A valuation of the degree of contamination is difficult. Therefore we recommend to clean the air
filter element regularly every 10 operating hours.
Note: For cleaning of the air filter element ROTAX recommends the cleaning kit (ROTAX
part no. 297 160) containing bio-degradable cleaning agents and filter oil.
