Brushless motors operate quite differently than brushed motors with which
you may be used to working. (e.g., a starter motor).

Brushless Motors Overview
Brushles s motors can be recognized by 3 wires.
These 3 wires require a controller to operate
them and to “fire” these 3 phases in a precise
fashion, like spark plugs firing a 3-cylinder gas
motor.
Applying a voltage directly to these
phases will cause damage.
A brushed motor, like the one pictured to the right,
can be quickly tested by applying voltage to the
two terminals.
