1.2.1 IS Probe and Barrier
To maintain a fast measurement response, a bare-element RTD sensor is used for the
temperature probe. However, this type of probe must be intrinsically safe. The probe is
connected to an IS barrier mounted behind the detector cabinet as shown below. This circuit
is thus intrinsically safe.
