2. NC & PLC Initialization
2.1 Referencing with Absolute Value Encoders
The advantage of machine axes with absolute encoders is that the reference point approach
required with incremental measuring systems after, for example:
Power on of controller (POWER ON) Or Deselection of “Parking” of machine axis
Can be omitted after a one-time adjustment operation, and the actual value system of the
machine axis is immediately synchronized to the determined absolute position
2.2 Adjustment
Adjustment of an absolute encoder involves matching the actual value of the encoder with
the machine zero once and then setting it to valid
The current adjustment status of an absolute encoder is indicated in the following axis-
specific machine data element of the machine axis on which the absolute encoder is
connected

2.3 Adjustment methods
The following adjustment methods are supported :
Adjustment by entering a reference point offset
Adjustment by entering a reference point value
Automatic adjustment with probe
Adjustment with BERO
2.4 Readjustment
Readjustment of the absolute encoder is required after :
Gear change between load and absolute encoder
Removal/installation of the absolute value encoder
Removal/installation of the motor with the absolute value encoder
SRAM data loss of the NC
Battery failure
Function : PRESET
