● You configure the master IP address as normal.
● When configuring the CP interface, configure the IP address of the SCALANCE S as a
router address.
● You create the VPN configurations with SCALANCE S both for the station end and for the
control center end in STEP 7.

You configure the modules and networks in SIMATIC STEP 7. You will find the required
version in the section Hardware requirements (Page 17).
You can configure a maximum of three CMs/CPs per station.
Communication via redundant transmission paths
If you insert several CPs in an S7-1200, you can establish redundant communications paths.
This is only possible if the control system supports redundant transmission paths to the
same station.
Communication with a redundant control system
Even with a single DNP3 CP or IEC CP, an S7-1200 can communicate with a redundant
master.
The two devices of the redundant master are addressed by the CP using one DNP3 address
or one IEC address but two different IP addresses.
How to configure in STEP 7
Follow the steps below when configuring:
1. Create a STEP 7 project.
2. Insert the required SIMATIC stations.
Configuration of the master stations and connections neither possible nor necessary.
3. Insert the CPs and the required input and output modules in the stations.
4. Create an Ethernet network.
5. Connect the stations to the Ethernet subnet.
6. Configure the inserted CPs.

7. Save the project.
