Design and major components of the Heat Exchanger Module
The Heat Exchanger Module has an integrated control system. This controls the pump and uses the 3-way valve
actuator to regulate the inflow temperature in the converter-side deionized water circuit to a fixed, adjustable value.
The control system also monitors the pressures in the inflow and return flow lines of the deionized water circuit, the
inflow temperature of the deionized water circuit and the ambient temperature. If the measured values exceed or fall
below the limits stored internally in the control system, alarms or fault messages are initiated. This occurs, for
example, if the ambient temperature rises significantly above the inflow temperature of the deionized water circuit,
causing an increased risk of condensation.
In view of these monitoring functions, careful configuring and commissioning of the cooling system are absolutely
essential in order to ensure that it functions properly. It is particularly important during commissioning to adjust the
pressure in the deionized water circuit correctly via the ball valve and to select the right setpoint for the inflow
temperature of the deionized water circuit. Instructions on how to configure the cooling system, including calculation
of the correct pressure and the right inflow temperature setpoint in the deionized water circuit, can be found in section
"Information about the cooling circuit and the cooling circuit configuration".
