Sewing a seam
Vou can sew seams eas ily and accurately
when you follow the
suggestions below.
Placing fabric under foot
Most fabr ics can be placed under the foot
by raíslnq the presser foot lifter (1) to its
normal "Up" pos ition
(2), where it locks in
p
lace .
When
using bulky fabr ic, multipie fabric
layers or an embroidery hoop , raise the lifter
to the high rise position (3), thus increasing
the
space between the foot and the need le
plate.
•
Lower presser foot lifter ali the way down
and you are ready to sew.
Basting
Pin basting and hand basting are easy ways
to make temporary seams before mach ine
sewing.
• To pin baste, Insert pins at stitching line.
NEVER place pins on the underside of
fabric in
contact with the feed. Do not sew
over pins; pull them out as you stitch .
• To hand baste , make long stitches that can
be easily removed.
Keepi 9 seams straight
To keep seams straight. use one of the
guidel ines on the needle plate .
The most commonly used line (1), the
5/8
inch (1.6 em) SElam allowance, is extended
onto the slide plate.

Colocación dei tejido debajo

La mayor ía de los tejidos puede n colocarse
debajo dei pre nsatelas, subiendo el elevador
dei prensatelas
(1) hasta su pos ici ón normal
"Up" (2).
Cuando se uti
lice un tejido grueso, de varias
capas o un aro de bordar, suba el elevad or
hasta su pos ición alta (3); de este modo se
aumenta el
espacio entre el prensatelas y
le plancha de aguja.
• Baje el elevador dei prensatelas en su
totalidad y estara preparada para
coser .
Hilvanado
EI hilvanado con alfileres y a mano son los
medios simples de realizar costuras provi-
sionales antes de
coser a maquina.
• Para hilvanar con alfileres, inserte alfileres
en la linea de costura. NUNCA
coloque
alfileres sobre el reverso dei tejido en
contacto con el arrastre. No cosa sobre
los alfileres;
s áqueíos según cose.
• Para h
ilvanar a mano , cosa puntadas
largas y flo jas
que se pu edan quitar
facilmente.
Como mantener las costuras
rectas
Para dirigir las costuras en \inea recta , util ice
una de las lineas-guíade la plancha de aguja.
• La linea utilizada con mas frecuencia (1
l,
1.6 em. de margen de costura, se ext iende
sobre la plancha de aguja.
