      Your Sony Receiver might be turning off automatically because the “Auto Standby” feature is set to “On”. To prevent this, set “Auto Standby” to “Off”. Another reason could be that the sleep timer function is active, or the “PROTECTOR” function is enabled.

      If multi-channel sound cannot be output from your Sony Receiver, and “Control for HDMI” is set to “On,” “Audio Out” may be automatically set to “AMP.” In this case, set “Audio Out” to “AMP.”

      If Dolby Digital or DTS multi-channel sound isn't being reproduced on your Sony Receiver, check that the DVD, etc., you are playing is recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS format. When connecting the DVD player, etc., to the digital input jacks of this receiver, make sure the digital audio output setting on the connected equipment. High Bitrate Audio (DTSHD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD), DSD, and multi-channel Linear PCM can only be enjoyed with an HDMI connection.

      If you're hearing a severe hum or noise from your Sony Receiver, check that the speakers and equipment are connected correctly. Ensure connecting cords are away from transformers, motors, TVs, or fluorescent lights (at least 3 meters away). Move your TV away from the audio equipment. If the plugs and jacks are dirty, wipe them with a cloth slightly moistened with alcohol.

      If a test tone is not output from the speakers of your Sony Receiver, the speaker cords may not be connected securely. Check to see if they are connected securely and cannot be disconnected by pulling on them slightly. The speaker cords may have the short-circuit problem.
