THROTTLE CABLE PLAY
Throttle cable play
A should be 2.0 – 4.0 mm (0.08 – 0.16 in) as
measured at throttle grip when turning the throttle grip lightly. If
the play
A is incorrect, adjust it as follows:
• Loosen the locknut
1 and turn the adjuster
2 in or out until
the specified play is obtained.
• Tighten the locknut
1 while holding the adjuster
2.

ENGINE IDLE SPEED
• Adjust the throttle cable play. (See above.)
• Warm up the engine.
NOTE:
Make this adjustment when the engine is hot.
• Start the engine, turn the throttle stop screw
1 and set the
engine idle speed as follows.
$ Engine idle speed: 1 600 – 1 800 r/min
Before using a spark plug wrench, carefully turn the
spark plug by finger into the threads of the cylinder
head to prevent damage.
0.6 – 0.8 mm
(0.024 – 0.031 in)
Inspect initially at 1 month and every 6 months there-
after.
After the adjustment is completed, check that handle-
bars movement does not raise the engine idle speed
and that the throttle grip returns smoothly and auto-
matically.
