SECONDARY DRIVE BEVEL GEAR

Remove the engine. (See page 3-3.)
l
Remove the secondary drive bevel gear assembly. (See page
3-16.)
l
Compress the damper spring with a vice, and remove the
circlip with the special tool.

l
Remove the cam dog @ and damper spring 0.
SECONDARY DRIVEN BEVEL GEAR
l
Remove the secondary driven bevel gear assembly. (See page
3-l 5.)
l
Remove the bearing retainer with the special tool.
l
Remove the oil seal 0, oil seal housing @ and O-ring 0.
CAUTION:
The removed oil seal and O-ring should be replaced with new
ones.
INSPECTION
Inspect the removed parts for the following abnormalities.
* The drive and driven bevel gears must be inspected thoroughly for excessive wear
or damage. It is important that both gears be in good condition to maintain proper
tooth contact.
* Abnormal noise of bearings
* Bearing damage or wear.
