Check/Adjust Switching Frequency (R998)
(The following steps must be performed at the beginning of the power supply adjustment procedure.)
a. ADJUST-R998 (SW FREQ ADJ) fully counterclockwise. Set the UNE VOLTAGE SELECTOR switch to 115V.
b. Connect the power cord from the auto transformer to the instrument. Turn the instrument power on.
c. Increase auto transformer voltage to 128V. Allow at least 10 minutes warm up time before proceeding with the
following adjustments and checks.
d. Set up test oscilloscope:
VERTICAL MODE to CHI
CHI to 1V/DIV (X10 probe) or 10V/DIV {XI probe), DC Coupled
HORIZONTAL MODE to XI , 5ms/DIV
TRIGGER MODE to P-P AUTO, CHI SOURCE
e. Monitor the waveform atW951 via XI orXIO probe. The period of the waveform w ill be approximately 3 divisions
or 15p.s.
f. ADJUST - R998 (SW FREQ ADJ) until the period of the waveform is 4.8 divisions or 24*is.
g. CHECK— Period of the waveform is within 20 to 25jas (4.0 to 5.0 divisions) while the auto transformer voltage is
adjusted through the range of 95 to 128V.
h. Readjust R998, if necessary, to keep the period of the waveform within specification through the rated line voltage
range.
