Important:Usenewbearingsealswhenlubricatingthe
caster-wheelhubs.
Important:Topreventsealandbearingdamage,check
thebearingadjustmentoften.Spinthecastertire.The
tireshouldnotspinfreely(morethan1or2revolutions)
orhaveanysideplay.Ifthewheelspinsfreely,adjust
torqueonspacernutuntilthereisaslightamountof
drag.Reapplythread-lockingadhesive.
Greasetype:NationalLubricatingGreaseInstitute(NGLI)
grade#2multi-purposegungrease.
1.Removethe2sealguardsfromthewheelhub(Figure
33).

assembledtoit)fromthecaster-wheelassembly(Figure
33).
4.Pryoutbothofthebearingseals(Figure33).
Note:Discardtheoldseals.
5.Removebothofthebearingsandinspecteachofthem
forwearordamage(Figure33).
Note:Replacethebearingifitiswornordamaged.
6.Packthe2bearingswiththespeciedgrease.
AssemblingtheCaster-WheelHub
1.Install1bearingintothehubofthewheel(Figure33).
2.Installthebearingsealintothehubatthebearing
(Figure33).
3.Ifyouremoved(orbrokeloose)bothofthespacer
nutsfromtheaxleassembly,performthefollowing:
A.Cleanthethreadsoftheaxleandspacernut.
B.Applythread-lockingadhesivetothethreadsat
1endoftheaxle.
C.Threadtheaxlenut,withthewrenchatsfacing
outward,ontotheendoftheaxlethatisprepared
withthread-lockingcompound(Figure33).
Note:Donotthreadspacernutalloftheway
ontotheaxle.Leaveapproximately3mm(1/8
inch)fromtheoutersurfaceofthespacernutto
theendoftheaxleinsidethenut.
4.Inserttheassemblednutandaxleintothewheelat
thesideofthewheelwiththenewsealandbearing
(Figure33).
5.Withtheopenendofthewheelfacingup,llthearea
insidewheelcavity(aroundtheaxle)withthespecied
grease.
6.Installtheotherbearingandnewsealintothewheel
(Figure33).
7.Applythread-lockingadhesivetothe2ndspacernut
andthreadontotheaxlewiththewrenchatsfacing
outward.
8.Torquethespacernutto8to9N-m(75to80in-lb),
loosen,thenre-torqueto2to3N-m(20to25in-lb).
Note:Makesureaxledoesnotextendbeyond
eithernut.
9.Installthesealguardsoverthewheelhub(Figure33).
InstallingtheCaster-WheelAssembly
1.Aligntheholeintheaxleofthecaster-wheelassembly
betweentheholesintheforkofthecaster(Figure32).
2.Securethetotheforkwiththewheelnutandbolt
(Figure32)thatyouremovedinstep3ofRemoving
theCaster-WheelAssembly(page29).
3.Torquethewheelnutto91to113N-m(67to83ft-lb).
