extendbeyondthereartiresinsteadofindividual
rampsforeachsideofthemachine(Figure28).
Theplatform,whendownandlockedintoposition,
mustextendbackbetweentherearwheels,and
servesasastopfortippingbackward.Havinga
full-widthrampprovidesasurfacefortheplatform
tocontactifthemachinestartstotipbackward.
Withtheplatformup,afull-widthrampprovidesa
surfacetowalkonbehindthemachine.
•Therampshouldbelongenoughsothatthe
anglesdonotexceed15degrees(Figure28).
Asteeperanglemaycausetinecomponentsto
getcaught,asthemachinemovesfromrampto
trailerortruck.Asteeperanglemayalsocause
themachinetotipbackward.Ifloadingonornear
aslope,positionthetrailerortrucksoitisonthe
downsideoftheslopeandtherampextendsup
theslope.Thisminimizestherampangle.The
trailerortruckshouldbeaslevelaspossible.
