Keepsparks,ames,orcigarettesaway
frombattery.
Ventilatewhenchargingorusingbatteryin

openoncebatteryislledwithacid.
Alwaysshieldeyesandfacefrombattery.

RemovingtheBattery
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltoolscouldshort
againstmetalmachinecomponents,causing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebatterygasses
toexplode,resultinginpersonalinjury.
Whenremovingorinstallingthebattery,
donotallowthebatteryterminalstotouch
anymetalpartsofthemachine.
Donotallowmetaltoolstoshortbetween
thebatteryterminalsandmetalpartsofthe
machine.

Incorrectbattery-cableroutingcoulddamage
themachineandcables,causingsparks.
Sparkscancausethebatterygassesto

Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
1.Shutofftheengine,engagetheparkingbrake,
removethekey,andwaitforallmovingpartsto
stopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
2.Removetheconsolepad;refertoRemovingthe
ConsolePad(page32).
3.Onthebattery,lifttheblackterminalcoverfrom
thenegativecable(Figure47).
