Understandingthe
Safety-InterlockSystem
Thesafety-interlocksystemisdesignedtopreventthe
enginefromstartingwhen:
•Theblade-controllever(PTO)isengaged.
•TheignitionkeyisturnedtotheOFFposition.
Thesafety-interlocksystemisdesignedtoshutoff
theenginewhen:
•The-bladecontrolbailisreleasedwiththe
blade-controllever(PTO)engaged.
•TheignitionkeyisturnedtotheOFFposition.
TestingtheSafety-Interlock
System
Testthesafety-interlocksystemeachtimebefore
youusethemachine.Ifthesafetysystemdoesnot
operateasdescribed,haveanAuthorizedService
Dealerrepairthesafetysystemimmediately.
1.Engagetheparkingbrake,disengagethePTO,
andmovethethrottleforward.
2.Starttheengine.
3.Withtheenginerunning,squeezethe
blade-controlbailagainsttheuppercontrolbar,
andpushtheblade-controllever(PTO)forward.
Themowerbladesshouldrotate.
4.Withtheenginerunning,releasethe
blade-controlbail.
Theengineshouldshutoff.
5.Starttheengine.
6.Withtheenginerunning,turntheignitionkeyto
theOFFposition.
Theengineshouldshutoff.
