Checkthebrakesonbothalevelsurfaceandaslope.
Alwaysengagetheparkingbrakewhenyoustopthe
machineorleaveitunattended.Iftheparkingbrake
doesnotholdsecurely,adjustit.
CheckingtheParkingBrake
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceand
disengagethePTO.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Engagetheparkingbrake.
Note:Thewheelsmustlockwhenyoutryto
pushthemachineforward.
4.Ifthewheelsdonotlock,adjustthebrakes;refer
toAdjustingtheParkingBrake(page34).
5.Disengagethebrakeandpressuppercontrol
barverylightly,approximately13mm(1/2inch).
Note:Thewheelsshouldrotatefreely.Ifnot,
refertoAdjustingtheParkingBrake(page34).
AdjustingtheParkingBrake
Thebrakeleverisontheuppercontrolbar.Ifthe
parkingbrakedoesnotholdsecurely,adjustit.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thePTO,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Checkthebrakebeforeyouadjustit;referto
CheckingtheParkingBrake(page34).
4.Disengagetheparkingbrake.
5.Toadjustthebrake,rotatethewingnutsonthe
brakerods(Figure35).
Turnthewingnutsclockwisetotightenthebrake
andcounterclockwisetoloosenthebrake.
