includesquealingwhilethebeltisrotating;theblades
slippingwhilecuttinggrass;andfrayededges,burn
marks,andcracksonthebelt.
Replacingthe
Traction-DriveBelt
ServiceInterval:Every50hours/Monthly
(whichevercomesrst)—Checkthe
traction-drivebelt.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thePTO,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Removethehairpincottersecuringthebrake
rodtothebrakearmtorelaxthetensiononthe
beltidler(Figure36).
4.Removethebottomboltandloosenthetopbolt
oftheshieldtorotateitforbeltclearance(Figure
36).
5.Liftthebeltpasttheidlerandoffthedrivepulley
(Figure36).
6.Raisethewheeloffthegroundenoughto
removethebelt.
7.Replacethetraction-drivebelt.
8.Securetheshieldwiththepreviouslyremoved
boltandtightenthebolts(Figure36).
9.Securethebrakerodtothebrakearmwiththe
hairpincotter(Figure36).
