Note:Thedistancebetweenthebeltguideand
mowerbeltshouldbe32mm(1-1/4inches)
whenyouengagethemowerbelt.Adjustthe
mowerbeltasnecessary.Thedisengagedbelt
shouldnotdragorfalloffthepulleywhenthe
guidesareproperlyadjusted.
AdjustingtheMowerBelt
Tension
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst8hours—Checkthe
mowerbelttension.
Aftertherst25hours—Checkthemowerbelt
tension.
Every50hours—Checkthemowerbelttension.
Important:Adjustthebrakewheneveryouadjust
thebelttensionorbrakelinkage.
Important:Thebeltmustbetightenoughto
notslipduringheavyloads,whilecuttinggrass.
Over-tensioningthebeltreducesthelifeofthe
spindlebearing,belt,andidlerpulley.
Thebeltmustbetightenoughsothatitdoesnot
slipduringheavyloadswhilecuttinggrass,but
over-tensioningthebeltwillreducebeltandspindle
bearinglife.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thePTO,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Loosenthelocknutontheturnbuckle(Figure
41).
4.Adjustthetensionofthebelt.
Rotatetheturnbuckletowardtherearofthe
machinetoincreasethetensiononthebelt.
Rotatetheturnbuckletowardthefrontofthe
machinetodecreasethetensiononthebelt
(Figure40).
