ServicingtheCuttingBlades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason,because
sharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingorshreddingthegrass
blades.Tearingandshreddingturnsgrassbrownattheedges,
whichslowsgrowthandincreasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpenthe
bladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,replace
itimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacementblade.For
convenientsharpeningandreplacement,keepextrablades
onhand.
DANGER
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator's
orbystander'sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
•Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
•Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe

Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
blade-controlswitch(PTO),andsettheparkingbrake.Turn
theignitionkeytoOff.Removethekey.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure92).Iftheedgesare
notsharporhavenicks,removeandsharpentheblades.
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea(Figure
92).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,oraslotforming
inthisarea(Figure92),immediatelyinstallanewblade.
